What makes this Cap Bon excursion different
Cap Bon starts at the edge of Hammamet, yet most visitors only see it from the motorway. This Cap Bon excursion drives the full loop: up the east coast past the beaches of Kelibia, then down the wild west coast and its corniche, so you never cover the same road twice. It is also the day with the most spontaneous stops, for a photo, a swim or a coffee by the sea.
- Kerkouane, the only Punic city left as it was
- UNESCO
- possible: Kelibia beach and the springs of Korbous
- 2 swims
- door to door from Hammamet
- 7 h 30 min
- per car from Hammamet, up to four people

How the day runs
We drive Cap Bon as a loop, so every leg brings new scenery: farmland and beaches in the east, cliffs and mountains in the west. The usual pace takes 7 h 30 min door to door from Hammamet, with pickup at 08:00. Swimsuits are welcome, and you can linger anywhere: the driver waits, and the price stays the same as long as you are back at your hotel by 18:00.

Kerkouane and Kelibia
Punic city, UNESCO, about 2 h
Kerkouane was abandoned around 250 BC and never rebuilt, so you walk through a Carthaginian town exactly as it was: houses with their own bathtubs, mosaic thresholds and the sign of Tanit set into the floor. A few kilometres away, the fortress of Kelibia watches over one of the finest beaches in the country.

El Haouaria
Ancient quarries and sea cliffs, about 1 h 30
At the northern tip of the peninsula, the Punic and Roman builders of Carthage cut their stone from the cliffs, leaving vast caves that open straight onto the sea. From the point you look out to the island of Zembra. The village is also known for its falconers and their festival in June.

Korbous
Hot springs and corniche, about 1 h
A spa village squeezed between the mountain and the sea, known since Roman times. At Aïn Atrous a hot spring runs straight into the sea and people bathe where the warm and cool water meet. The corniche road along the cliffs is one of the prettiest drives in Tunisia.

The loop on the map
Up the east coast to Kelibia and El Haouaria, then down the west coast to Korbous. Choose your pickup city to see the whole loop, or a stop to see it up close.
Driving times on the map are Google estimates. Your driver knows the quicker roads.
Worth knowing about the loop
The peninsula mixes history, beaches and mountain roads in one day. These three points help you plan it.
- Why Kerkouane is unique
- It is the only Punic town to survive without a Roman city built on top. You see how ordinary Carthaginians lived, down to the bathtubs set into their floors.
- Bring a swimsuit
- Kelibia’s beach is perfect for a swim before lunch, and at Korbous you can bathe where the hot spring meets the sea. There are no changing rooms, so wear your swimsuit under your clothes.
- The corniche road
- Between El Haouaria and Korbous the road winds along the cliffs. It is not dangerous, but tell the driver if anyone gets car sick and he will slow down and plan a stop.
Cap Bon excursion prices per car

Good to know
Cap Bon is a day of sun, sea and small roads. Pack for a beach as much as for a ruin.
Swimsuit and towel
Two swims are possible in the day. Wear your swimsuit under your clothes, as there are no changing rooms.
Shade is rare at Kerkouane
The site is open to the sky by the sea. A hat and water are essential from June to September.
Fish for lunch
Kelibia is a fishing port. Ask the driver for a simple seafood restaurant by the harbour.
Cap Bon excursion: what people ask
These are the questions we hear most about the peninsula. The short answer always comes first.
How long is the day?
The usual pace takes about 7 h 30 min door to door from Hammamet, with pickup at 08:00 and around 1 h to the first stop. The return follows the corniche along the west coast. You can stay longer anywhere you like, and the price does not change as long as you are back at your hotel by 18:00.
How much does the Cap Bon excursion cost?
€90 per car from Hammamet for one to four people, and €130 from Sousse, Port El Kantaoui or Tunis. Entrance to Kerkouane, around 8 dinars, is paid on the spot.
What is there to see on Cap Bon?
The highlights are the Punic city of Kerkouane, the fortress and beach of Kelibia, the Roman quarry caves of El Haouaria and the hot springs of Korbous. Nabeul, known for its pottery, sits at the southern end. This day links the main four in one loop.
Can we swim during the day?
Yes, in two places: the beach below the fortress of Kelibia, and Aïn Atrous at Korbous, where a hot spring flows into the sea. Bring a towel.
Is Kerkouane worth the stop?
Yes. It is the only Punic city in the world that was never rebuilt. You see a Carthaginian house as it was, with its bath and the sign of Tanit on the threshold.
Is the coast road difficult?
It winds along the cliffs with many bends, but it is a good road. If anyone gets car sick, the driver slows down and plans extra stops.
When is the best season?
April to June, then September and October. In spring the orange groves around Nabeul are in blossom. In summer it still works well, with a swim to cool down.
Can we leave from Tunis?
Yes. From Tunis we enter the peninsula from the Korbous side and drive the loop the other way round.
